The Republic of Yemen is a country located in Western Asia, bordered by Saudi Arabia, the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, Arabian Sea, and Oman. Its capital is Sana'a, and it has over 200 islands, including Socotra. Yemen has a purely republican form of government and was the first country in the Arabian Peninsula to grant women the right to vote. The majority of its population is divided into tribal groups, with Sunni Muslims following the Shafi'i school and Zaydi Shia branch of Islam.
